Varsity Girls

The cool weather and flat/fast & dry course at Boling Park were a key factor in the Lady Eagles garnering 3rd place (137 pts) out of 27 teams and setting two new all-time marks in school history as well.  Milton put it’s top-3 runners in the top-21 spots to edge out South Forsyth (4th-138 pts) by one point to secure the last trophy spot!  Marist (1st-52 pts) fought off the challenge of Etowah (2nd-52 pts) for the meet win as the War Eagles 6th runner determined who broke the tie!  The Hornets of Roswell were 4th (156 pts).  The Lady Eagles, now a contender to challenge for the Fulton County Championships next weekend, were led by sophomore Riley Burr’s 19:36, an all-time best and good for 12th place, moved her to 7th on the school’s all-time performer list!  Along with Burr, junior Juanita Pardo cut 40 seconds off her all-time best to run the 9th fastest time in school history with her 19:44, good for 15th place. Senior co-captain Abbey Jordan followed with her all-time best of 19:55, good for 21st spot and the 11th best performer in school history!  A solid race from junior Amy Ruiz (33rd-20:28) pushed Milton to the third place position. Closing out the scoring for the Lady Eagles was the great pack finish from senior co-captain Rachel Cronin (67th-21:28), junior Hallie Howell (68th-21:28) and senior Kim Toscano (73rd-21:31).

Varsity Boys

The Eagles had high hopes for a top-5 finish but settled for many personal bests and a 11th place team finish (302 pts) out of 30 scoring schools.  The War Eagles of Marist held off a stiff challenge from the Eagles of Etowah to secure the meet win by 3 points, 95-98 with Roswell a very close third (115 pts) and looks to be the favorite going into next weekend’s Fulton County Championships. Starting again in a very conservative pace, sophomore Jack Bluth move steadily through more than 2/3rd’s of the field to claim Milton’s top-spot and a all-time best (47th-17:24).  Brother’s Kevin McGorrey (54th-17:29) & Matt McGorrey (59th-17:35) followed with Matt’s performance an all-time best!  Junior Mikey Newell had a breakthrough performance to finish as Milton’s 4th scorer in running a big personal best (74th-17:44).  Junior Connor Cole followed in a lifetime best as well (78th-17:49).  Milton closed out the race with junior Preston Meade (89th-18-flat) and sophomore Clay Marshall (113th-18:20).

JV Girls

Milton challenged for a top-3 spot and fell just short in finishing 5th (128 pts) out of 19 scoring schools.  Marist dominated the race with 22 points with St Pius a distant 2nd (97 pts). South Forsyth (3rd-116 pts) & Etowah (4th-118 pts) followed.  The duo of senior co-captain Katie Robinson (17th-21:39) and junior Meagan Thistleton (19th-21:44) running all-time bests, led the Lady Eagles on a day where Milton put all its scoring runners in the top-50 of the race.  Sophomore Victoria Wagner (32nd-22:12) led the Lady Eagles scoring pack that included junior Michelle Pick (38th-22:33), sophomore Anna Renko (39th-22:35) and senior co-captain Addie Luxton (41st-22:39). Milton’s final scorer was sophomore Emily Velez (47th-22:55).

JV Boys

In one of the most exciting races of the day for Milton, the Eagles placed 2nd with 67 points to defeat 24 scoring schools! The Eagles of Etowah were easy winners of the race with 5 finishers in the top-10 (22 pts).  Roswell (3rd-87 pts) and Blessed Trinity (4th-87 pts) followed. Virtually every Milton runner ran a personal/lifetime best in this race and were led by sophomores John Fravel (3rd-17:47) and Brock Schutt (9th-17:56).  Solid efforts by fellow sophomore Jacques DuPlessis (15th-18:06) and freshman Michael McCarthy (20th-18:10) along with senior Brendan Kemple (22nd-18:15) propelled the Eagles to the runner-up spot.  Junior Nolan English (32nd-18:30) & senior co-captain Spencer Greene (43rd-18:46) ran BIG personal bests to close out the scoring for the runner-up spot!

Open Girls

Moving steadily thru the race field, sophomore Marley Brown notched an over 1-minute all-time best with her 25:12 good for 55th place. The Lady Eagles finished 8th out of 11 scoring teams in a race that had 248 finishers.

Open Boys

Sophomore John Jurgens went to the front early and held on and ran a gallant effort to notch a all-time best and finish 6th place in 19:10!  The Eagles finished a strong second place as a team (2nd-75 pts) besting Kennesaw Mtn by a single point (3rd-76). Roswell led the teams (1st-41 pts) as 330 runners finished the race.

Milton will host the Fulton County Public Schools Cross Country Championships THIS Saturday, September 21st at 8am with the JV girl’s race slated to begin the meet.
