Can Your Team Hoop It Up?

By Lisa Ausman

Does experience trump talent? While NCAA basketball fans are debating this week’s question, Champia Real Estate Inspections knows that it is a special combination of both experience and talent that have determined our winning team.

Meet head coach and President/CEO, Bill Compton, who calls the shots from the sidelines and continues to make adjustments to his players’ assignments in order to drive our team above the rim. Bill is a certified ASHI inspector and certified general contractor, who prior to the real estate inspection business, served as President of a luxury home construction and renovation company. He is currently serving as Secretary on the new Georgia ASHI Board for the 2014-2015 season. Bill is also an active member of Rotary International, where he has served as both President and Assistant Governor. He also served in the U.S. Navy for seven years and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Richmond.

Our Champia Real Estate Inspections' point guard, Josef "Joe" Niehuser was recently awarded the Outstanding Customer Service Award for gauging his shot selection in the heat of battle. Joe has been an ASHI inspector and a residential ICC code certified inspector for the past seven years. Joe spent many years in the construction industry as a certified mason and general contractor, prior to the real estate inspection service. Joe, who is originally from Germany, has lived in the U.S. since 1985.

Vince Tidwell, Champia Real Estate Inspections' shooting guard, is our versatile player who likes to create his own shots off the dribble. For the past five years, Vince has been an associate inspector with ASHI. Prior to Champia Real Estate Inspections, Vince was a mechanical design engineer for McDonnell Douglas, where he designed the F-15 Eagle. In 2007, Vince, along with two other inventors, was issued a patent for inventing a post attachment device for connecting a helmet to a head and neck support. Vince has also designed and built four homes. Vince received his BME from Georgia Institute of Technology and then earned his MBA at Georgia State University. He is also a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society. Vince is currently finishing up his professional engineering certification. Mike Gonzalez, Champia Real Estate Inspections' power forward, a.k.a. Karl Malone, was recently awarded Employee of the Year. Mike likes to play offensively with his back towards the basket and he positions himself defensively under the basket in a zone defense. As a 12 year veteran and certified inspector with ASHI, Mike has inspected over 600 homes. Prior to this stint, Mike spent many years in the construction industry consulting with general contractors on building materials. Mike is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Mike received his associate's degree from Gwinnett Technical Institute.

Tucker Bradley, Champia Real Estate Inspections' small forward, has the quickness and strength inside to "get to the line" and draws fouls by aggressively attempting plays, layups, and slam dunks. As an associate inspector with ASHI, Tucker has performed over 220 inspections in his rookie year. Prior to this year, Tucker spent twenty years in outside sales and six years in management. Tucker graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from Delaware State University.

Chris Howe and Paul Garland both split time as Champia Real Estate Inspections' center. With over 25 years of experience as an ASHI certified inspector for both residential and commercial properties, Chris is our franchise player. Chris is also an International Code Council (ICC) certified professional for one and two story residential dwellings. He is also certified to perform radon testing and mold testing. Prior to this, Chris spent many years in the construction industry as a carpenter. Chris is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and he is currently serving on active reserves. He received his undergraduate degree from National Louis University and his certificate of construction management from Southern Polytechnic State University. Because of Chris' duties at Dobbins Air Force Base, he is available to play (inspector) in the second half (after 4:30 p.m.) during weekdays and throughout the weekend if not on duty. Paul Garland is Champia Real Estate Inspections' other center, who quietly and ferociously gets the job done inside the key. Paul is an associate ASHI inspector. Prior to the real estate inspection business, Paul was a property manager for companies in the real estate and banking industries. As a property manager, Paul managed contractors in the repair and renovation of commercial properties.

To round out our team, Paul Feyereisen and Mike Molley serve as Champia Real Estate Inspections' assistant coaches. With their vast experiences, they love to come off the bench to instruct our players on the fundamentals of the game. Paul Feyereisen is our 30+ year veteran. He has a B.S. in general engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He also received his M.A. in international affairs from George Washington University. Paul was a senior home inspector with the Atlanta Housing Authority, and he worked in the corporate real estate industry. Paul planned, developed and executed an assessment program for 150 multi-family properties for the Public Housing Authority, managed the new contracts division of the Housing Choice Department and provided management oversight of the Atlanta Housing Authority's Relocation's Department while it was being reorganized. Paul also directed the project to design, build and operate the Olympic Athlete's Welcome and Accreditation Center for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.

Dr. Mike Molley enjoys holding peer-to-peer training classes for his players. He is our certified environmental auditor and environmental professional and fisheries scientist. He is our expert in natural resources, wetlands, regulatory compliance and environmental assessments. He has conducted hundreds of Phase I (due diligence) and Phase II (soil/groundwater) investigations at both residential and commercial and industrial properties. Dr. Molley specializes in Phase I/Phase II assessments at industrial sites. He has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in biology, zoology and environmental management.
