Interesting History of Alpharetta Library

The new Alpharetta library will end up a bit closer to where it was supposed to be in the first place.

Maybe what goes round, comes round.

In 1986, the late Louie Jones of Alpharetta, a local pharmacy owner, funeral director and even state senator in the 1930's, passed away and left his home and land on Brook Street to the county for the stated purpose of building a library.

I'm not quite sure which parcel on Brook Street belonged to Mr. Jones, but a library was never built on Brook Street.  Evidently, the county sold the parcel and we all know the library was ultimately built on Canton Street.

And yet, there is a new Alpharetta-Fulton County Library branch slated to be built, where, where....Oh yes, right over by Brook Street, as part of the plans for the new city center.

Ironic that Mr. Louie Jones final wishes will end up being fulfilled almost exactly as he stated in his will, but 26 years later.
