Food Truck Thursdays and City Employees

A Shout-Out to good things in Alpharetta.

A few thoughts today:

First, though I’ve already gushed over the gastronomical success of “Food Truck Thursdays” (more Korean Philly Cheese-steaks with Sriracha cheese please!) I want to make an observation about another component of it.  Food Truck Thursdays is giving us live music.  And it’s good music.  Apparently this music is being performed by high – school aged kids.  Am I right?  Well, it’s awesome, Alpharetta.  And since music comes under the category of “Performing Arts”, I just want to reiterate something I’ve said many times, to personal acquaintances if not here – Art Happens.

Another thought I want to express is that city of Alpharetta employees are great people.  It is city of Alpharetta employees who execute such things as Food Truck Thursdays, Arts Festivals, the care and safety of our beautiful parks and greenways, our roads, etc. and etc.

What is remarkable to me about our city employees is that they seem to really care about Alpharetta – and keep in mind many of them are not residents here. Yet, they pull for Alphareta.  They represent her well.  Indeed, in my mind, they are the steady and sure representation that elected officials are not, by virtue of the fact that they are employed here. It is their job.  While elected officials are always changing and altering things; voting things into existence, voting things out of existence, and themselves being voted in and out of office, it is city employees that carry out these changes and then carry on with their work.
