Verma formed MDJunior in 2009 to engage students and keep them on track for graduation, encourage those students to enter medical fields to address shortages of professionals and to bring compassion and humility back to these students.

Some local chapters are at Taylor Road Middle, Hopewell Middle, Webb Bridge Middle and Milton High. Others chapters are starting at Chattahoochee, Alpharetta, Fulton Science School and Fulton Science High. Lassiter and South Forsyth High are other nearby schools with MDJunior chapters.

The honors have poured as Verma traveled across the country to help start new chapters and to spread his mission of "Inspiring Selfless Service Through Leadership."

This week those efforts have paid off with the trip to Honduras as the students and medical professionals practice Verma's sustainable model of global health.
