Selling Your Home During The Holidays: YES It’s a Good Thing

Are you ready to put your house on the market? Feeling worried that the holidays just aren't a prime time to sell your house? There are several reasons why NOW is a perfect time to sell your house.

It’s early November and the holiday season is already here.  Are you ready to put your house on the market?  Feeling worried that the holidays just aren’t a prime time to sell your house?  Maybe you’re even considering putting off the sale till the new year.  Actually, there are several reasons why NOW is a perfect time to sell your house.  In fact, the sooner you get your house on the market during this holiday season, the better the chance of a great sale.

Our clients that watched my video last year listed and sold just as planned. Watch my video about listing your house during the Holidays.

Here are the top five reasons why you should put your house up for sale in
November:

#1: There isn’t much traveling going on in November and December.
People are staying with their families; shopping; heading out with
friends.  And if someone is going to show your house in the month of
December—they’re serious!  It’s a perfect time to put your house up for
sale.

#2: Your house looks gorgeous! What time does your home look
prettier than during the holidays?  Maybe you’ve decorated it in style.  The
holiday feel in the neighborhood will even enhance the look of your house, too.
It’s a perfect time to sell your home.  Buyers buy on emotion, they want to
“feel” how their family will live in your home.  With a home decorated for the
holidays, you are helping the Buyers see how they will live in the home.

#3: People realize they need more housing space
during the holidays.
During the holidays, people are having parties at
home, and hosting family and friends in their house.  It couldn’t be a better
time for them to stop and realize that the space in their home is limited.  They
don’t want to feel limited again another holiday season, and so they’re already
looking for a new property.  December is actually a very big month for us in
selling homes, every year!

#4: December is the third favorite season to move. If people
plan to move, spring and summer are some of the biggest seasons for doing that.  The next season that won’t be so inconveniencing, where they can easily pull the children out of school and take some time off for the move, is December.

#5: Inventory is low  Less competition means your home will sell for more money and faster.  Seasonally there are less homes on the market this time of the year.  Yet the trend in 2012 is there are considerably fewer homes on the market than in the past several years. And there are more Buyers out looking with interest rates low and the economy showing signs of improvement. The good homes are getting under contract fast right now.

There you have four top reasons to NOT push off the sale of your home past
December.  When the new year comes, you can be in a contract when everyone else is putting their For Sale sign up.
