The 11th Annual Charity Roast to benefit the Malon D. Mimms Boys & Girls Club in Cherokee County will be held on Thursday, Sept. 25 in Canton.

The 11th Annual Charity Roast to benefit the Malon D. Mimms Boys & Girls Club will return later this year.

The event raises money for the Canton location for the Boys & Girls Club.

“I look forward to taking some ribbing from my friends to help raise money for critically needed programs and services for at-risk youth," Senator Beach said. "I am honored to help in any way possible."

The event, which draws more than 500 people each year, will be presented by the Malon D. Mimms Company at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25 at the Northside Hospital-Cherokee Conference Center at 1130 Bluffs Parkway in Canton.

Tickets for the roast are $75 per person and include a cocktail reception, live entertainment and a buffet of gourmet hors d'oeuvres, along with the opportunity to bid and win desirable silent and live auction items.

Robert Mimms, president of Mimms Enterprises and board chair, added it's a "privilege to serve the boys and girls" of the club and he's "delighted" Beach has agreed to be this year's roastee.

Cherokee County Manager Jerry Cooper is the chairman of the 2014 Roast Committee. Other committee members include Amy Turcotte, Larry Woolard, Laura Mikszan, Tom Roach, Marla Prince and Doug Foley.

Jamie Bendall, owner of the Punchline Comedy Club and professional comedian, will once again serve as master of ceremonies and will turn up the heat on Beach with his own commentary.

Those who've signed on so far to roast Beach include Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle; Mark Burkhalter, senior strategic advisor with McKenna Long & Aldridge and former speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives; and Al Nash, partner with The Columns Group.

Cooper said the funds raised at this year's roast will help the local club provide after-school services, leadership development programs and a "safe haven for at-risk and disadvantaged youth in our community."

"By pulling together, we can make a difference," he added.

Since its inception, the event has raised over $600,000 for the club, which sits at 1028 Univeter Road. The club offers a variety of programs and activities to its youth members in an effort to empower them to become productive adults. A professional, trained staff engages members in specially designed programs that focus on the fundamentals of health, education and employability.

The community is being asked to help support the local Boys & Girls Club through sponsorships, donations to the auction and attending the event, which historically raises more than $75,000 each year for the club.
