Milton High Graduate Awarded Georgia-Pacific Scholarship

Matthew Jordan has won a Georgia-Pacific Foundation Employees' Children Scholarship, which is worth $8,000.

Matthew Jordan, a recent graduate of Milton High School, has been selected as a recipient of a Georgia-Pacific Foundation Employees’ Children Scholarship. Each year the company awards 50 scholarships to children of employees across the country.

Matthew is the son of Kathy and Andrew Jordan. Kathy is a senior innovation manager with Georgia-Pacific. At Milton High School, Matthew lettered in cross country and chorus.

He also co-founded and served as president of Children’s Charities. Matthew will attend the University of Georgia this fall where he intends to major in international business. 

The Georgia-Pacific Foundation Scholarship Program for Employees’ Children awards $2,000 per year for up to four years of full time college undergraduate study or until baccalaureate degree requirements are completed, whichever occurs first, for a total maximum award of $8,000.

Since the scholarship program began in 1988, Georgia-Pacific has awarded 1,350 scholarships totaling nearly $11 million. The program is administered by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation and is open to children of all active, full-time employees of Georgia-Pacific in the United States.

Dossman, Jr., president of the Georgia-Pacific Foundation. “We’re investing in the success of our young people and looking forward to the many contributions they will make as professionals and citizens in their communities.”
