Alpharetta Community Chorus Summer Singers Concert

Having finished its first season, The Alpharetta Community Chorus elected to continue the music making by forming the Summer Singers.  The group, made up of regular members and college students home for the summer, will give a 3 p.m. concert on July 20th, in the sanctuary of the Alpharetta Presbyterian Church, 180 Academy Street.  Thomas and Robin Yackley are co-directors and their daughter, Claire, is the student conductor for the summer.

The program will include a variety of musical genres that are a reflection of the human spirit in song.  The repertoire will cover a range of feelings moving from patriotism, as the group opens with the "Star Spangled Banner" to celebrate the 200th anniversary of its inception, to spiritual fervor expressed in "Little Innocent Lamb," to the hope that drives us toward a future, as mentioned in "You Are the New Day."

The Alpharetta Chorus is in the process of acquiring non-profit status.  The group's regular season will resume with Tuesday evening rehearsals 7-9 p.m. beginning September 2, 2014.  As a non-auditioned group, the only requirement for membership is a love of singing and the time to commit to rehearsing.
