Adopt-A-Stream Free Course - Come learn about our Watershed!

On March 8th, Milton Grows Green is hosting a free Adopt-A-Stream course for residents to learn more about protecting our waterways.  The program will be held at Milton's Fire Station #43, 750 Hickory Flat Road, Milton GA 30004 from 10am to 1pm (near the Birmingham Crossroads)

Adopt-a-Stream is a statewide project of the Georgia Environmental Protection Division that aims to educate residents about water quality issues and provide training on the evaluation and protection of local waterways.

Jennifer Griffiths, Adopt-A-Stream coordinator for Milton Grows Green said that "the training and monitoring of an adopted stream is really very easy, and the city and county together provide everything you need.  Adopting a stream and monitoring its well being is a great way to help protect our natural resources.  It is a great learning activity for parents and children to do together."

This program is free and open to Milton residents looking for training on how to monitor local streams using easy techniques and test kits provided by Fulton County.  On completion, participants will be all set to start reporting water quality data for the Adopt-A-Stream program.

To register or for more information please email mgg@cityofmiltonga.us or contact Cindy Eade, environmental sustainability coordinator for the City of Milton, at 678-242-2509.
