A Conversation with the Ritchie Boys

Guenter Stern, born in 1922 in Germany, immigrated to the United States in 1937. Five years later, he joined the US army at Camp Ritchie to become a POW interrogator. Two days after D-Day Stern arrived in Normandy. He interrogated German prisoners in both France and Germany and later received a bronze star for his work. He returned to the US in 1945 to continue his education and later became an instructor at Columbia University.
