Early Voting Starts Monday at the Alpharetta Library for a House Seat

Voters in northwest Milton will help pick a replacement in the GA General Assembly for Rep. Calvin Hill, who died after battling leukemia.

Three Milton precincts are part of State House District 22, giving residents in that part of northwest Milton an opportunity to help pick their next Georgia representative.

The seat was left vacant after the death of State Rep. Calvin Hill of Hickory Flat. Hill died after a battle with leukemia.

A Special Election will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014 to fill the vacancy. The election includes portions of Cherokee, Forsyth and Fulton counties.

However, Milton residents in those three precincts don't have to wait until next year to make their choice. Early voting will begin Monday, Dec. 16 and run through Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Alpharetta Branch Library located at 238 Canton Street, Alpharetta, GA  30009. Early voting locations will be closed for holidays on Dec. 24, 25, and Jan. 1.

On Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2013, polls will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. at the following Milton precinct locations:

  • ML021 & ML022              Birmingham Falls Elementary School
  • ML07A                            Hopewell Baptist Church

Citizens must have been registered to vote by Monday, Dec. 9, 2013 to participate in the Jan. 7, 2014 special election.

This is a non-partisan special election with no party primaries. However, each candidate’s party affiliation, if any, will be listed on the ballot. Run-off elections, if needed, will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014.
