Health & Fitness

One Simple Thing for a Healthier You

If your goal is to live a healthier lifestyle, ditch the "all or nothing" mentality and follow our One Simple Thing blog, where we'll give you one healthy habit to adopt each week.

I’ve written my share of articles and blog posts related to exercise and nutrition while being in the fitness business over the past several years. I’ve always tried to give practical advice that can be easily carried out, but the bottom line is that many times we are juggling so many priorities that adopting healthy habits takes a back seat.

Changing our exercise and nutrition habits comes down to doing work on ourselves. And I’m going to admit, it’s not very easy work, either.  But is anything worth getting ever easy?

I want you to try for a moment to ditch the “all or nothing” mentality that’s led to failure in the past. I’m talking about the fad diets, the temporary bouts of extreme exercise, or any other actions that you’ve taken before that can’t be sustained for your lifetime. I know it’s easy to see all the work that needs to be done to do this the right way and get overwhelmed. Rather than finding a starting point and digging in, we throw our hands up and ask, “what’s the point?”

Instead, I want you to think about your well-being as a continuum. Each week in this blog, I’m going to share with you one simple thing that you can work on to gently guide you along to the healthier side of the continuum. If you implement all of the changes, in a year’s time you will have adopted 52 new healthy habits. That is going to make a significant change to the way you look and feel. Yet, it’s all going to happen rather insignificantly in small, doable steps. So get ready and stay tuned for our next post, where we’ll dig right in where it matters most… the mind. I’ll share some very easy ways that you can put your mind to work toward better health.

Here's to a Healthier You,
