Water Main Break Repair: Lane Closed on Old Alabama Road

Old Alabama Road's southeast lane from Crabtree Drive will be closed for 12-16 hours while emergency repairs are made to a water transmission main.

Fulton County Water is making an emergency repair on a 48 inch water transmission main on Old Alabama Road today.

The leak is on the city of Atlanta 48 inch transmission main that carries water from city of Atlanta-Fulton County Water Treatment Plant on Old Alabama Road through Old Alabama Road to Sandy Springs and its vicinity. The spot location of the leak is at 1979 Old Alabama Road, outside of the concrete sidewalk of the southeast lane some 15 feet from the edge of the road pavement.

This emergency repair is to prevent any breaks on this high pressure transmission main that goes through residential and commercial areas. The Old Alabama southeast lane at Crabtree Drive will be closed for the duration of operation, which began around 10 this morning and is estimated take 12 to 16 hours.
