DeKalb Sergeant and Cumming Resident Charged With Aggravated Assault - Cumming Patch

A DeKalb County sergeant and Cumming resident has been charged with aggravated assault.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office has arrested Scott A. Biumi, 48, of Cumming and charged him in connection with an incident that occurred last week at the McDonald's on Old Atlanta Road in Cumming. At around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday April 9, Biumi became upset with another customer in the drive-through lane at McDonald's. Two Killed in Overnight Wreck in Austell - South Cobb Patch

Two people are dead following an early morning accident on Austell Road in Austell, according to 11 Alive.

Husband and Wife Shot Trying to Stop Thieves on Dawson Lane - Cascade Patch

A group of thieves were attempting to steal a car from a home on Dawson Lane when the two homeowners heard them and tried to stop the robbery in progress.

According to AJC reporting, "the incident happened about 1:15 a.m. at a home on Dawson Lane."  Dawson Lane is near Hogan Road and Fairburn Road. Cascade Patch has more on this story. 

Smyrna Man Accused of Molestating Teen - Smyrna-Vinings Patch

A 56-year-old Smyrna man is accused of molesting his girlfriend's 14-year-old daughter near Marietta.

The suspect, identified in a Cobb County criminal warrant as David Uriyah Hardy, was living with his girlfriend and her daughter at the time of the alleged incident, said Officer Mike Bowman, spokesman for the Cobb County Police Department. Smyrna-Vinings Patch has more on this story. 

Firefighters Describe Hostage Taker as 'Delusional' - Duluth Patch

Early in last week's hostage ordeal in Suwanee, it became obvious to the captives what they were dealing with.

Captor Lauren Brown was "delusional," firefighter Tim Hollingsworth said Tuesday (April 16) at a news conference at Gwinnett Fire headquarters.

"He had family and financial problems. He wanted certain people to see what happened, and live the rest of their lives with guilt." Duluth Patch has more on this story.

Atlanta police and a number of federal and state agencies are investigating an explosion at 1599 Memorial Drive that sent a man to the hospital.

The incident occurred just before 3 p.m. at the Veteran's Thrift Shop, APD Sgt. Greg Lyon said.

The man was injured while opening a package, which led to the stretch of Moreland Avenue between Moreland Avenue and Maynard Terrace being closed to motor vehicle traffic for several hours. East Atlanta Patch has more on this story.
