Storm Blows Through Alpharetta-Milton, Knocking Down Trees

Some residents in Milton apparently lost power before 11:30 p.m. on Monday with a severe thunderstorm rolling through.

Hail, heavy rain, lightning and of course thunder are bouncing around Alpharetta-Milton as a severe thunderstorm batters Georgia on its way east.

@lwmallard reported pea-sized hail near McGinnis Ferry Road and Windward Parkway at 11:36 p.m.

The National Weather Service had its severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 11:45 p.m., and its tornado watch until midnight.

At 11:26 p.m., the National Weather Service Dopple radar still indicated a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing quarter-sized hail and damaging winds up to 6o mph. The storms were along a line extending from near Cumming to Roswell, moving east at 35 mph.

The National Weather Service asks for residents who see wind damage, large hail or significant flooding to wait until after the storm has passed, and then call 1-866-763-4466.
