Share Your 9/11 Stories With Alpharetta-Milton Patch

As the 10-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11 approaches, we would like to hear how that day has affected your life.

Ten years ago on a sunny day in September, things got very dark for the nation. Most of us can still remember exactly what we were doing when we first heard about terrorists attacks on 9/11 at the Twin Towers in New York, the Pentagon outside of Washington, D.C., with another Washington-bound jet crashing into a field near Shanksville, PA.

I still remember having to take MARTA downtown because the only route I was sure about to my destination took me past a road being blocked off for security. Yet MARTA was shutting down as well. That was all well and good, but I didn't expect to see a MARTA police officer walking up the tracks checking for things I didn't want to think about.

As part of Patch's coverage and commemoration, we are putting together images and human interest stories about how that tragic date has affected us all.
