Severe Thunderstorms Tonight May Follow Warm, Windy Day

Cold front moving in overnight keeps Tuesday 20 degrees cooler.

You might want to avoid trees with weak limbs today. And if that vehicle you drive is high and light, driving might become very difficult. Gusting winds are forecast until 8 p.m. Monday.

South winds will increase to 20 mph during Monday afternoon, with gusts 25-35 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

Strong winds may knock down tree limbs and displace small objects, so secure that light outdoor patio furniture or you may see it flying around and into the neigbhor's yard.

These gusts of wind and low relative humidity also caused the National Weather Service to issue a fire danger statement. Dry fuels and gusting winds create high fire danger conditions.

Tuesday looks to be dry, with a mostly cloudy sky gradually becoming sunny. The high will only be 61, 20 degrees lower than Monday's high as a late cold front moves in. After Monday's winds out of the south, the cold front on Tuesday will cause a shift out of the northwest between 15 and 20 mph. Gusts again will be as high as 30 mph. Close those windows Tuesday night, as the low will be around 35 degrees.

The northwest wind should fall between 5 and 10 mph before gradually becoming calm.

Once the front passes through, Wednesday should warm up into the 70s.
