Remembering 9/11: What You Can Do Today

From Roswell Remembers 9/11 to the We Remember ceremony at Alpharetta's Public Safety Department, local residents can honor those who died on that day, and in the war on terror since.

Alpharetta, Milton, Roswell and the rest of the nation remember the events of Sept. 11, 2001 today, 10 years after nearly 3,000 people lost their lives in four separate terrorist attacks.

Local churches are sure to share thoughts on that day this morning. Here are a few events and places to remember, and honor those who have fallen on that day, and in the days since fighting a threat of terror.

Roswell Remembers 9/11: 8:30 a.m. at Roswell City Hall, 38 Hill St. it's a cooperative effort between the Roswell American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Roswell Rotary Club and the city - will bring together firefighters, law enforcement, military and civilian representatives to memorialize and commemorate the anniversary of this event.

We Remember: 1:30 p.m., , 2565 Old Milton Pkwy. Local residents and public officials will gather at the corner of Old Milton and Westside parkways on Sunday, Sept. 11, for the "We Remember" memorial service on the tenth anniversary of terrorist attacks.

Walk of Memories: Daylight hours, , 201 Wills Rd. The "Walk of Memories" memorializes all Georgia veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces who have given their lives during World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts.

Celebrating Hope on 9/11: 6:30 p.m., Family Fest at the Cumming Fairgrounds, 235 Castleberry Rd. This year's festival gives the community an opportunity to thank Forsyth County First Responders, celebrate American freedoms, and find hope despite the memories of the senseless tragedy in New York in 2001. (Festival starts at 8:30 a.m.)
