Store Owner Beaten with Sledgehammer; Doctor Indicted

Reports are coming in of a violent attack Wednesday night in Tucker which has left a convenience store owner badly injured and in hospital.

"Mr. Patel was severely beaten with a sledgehammer," long-time customer Denise Pounds told Patch. "I went in to the store this morning and the day manager informed us of the tragedy. She is very upset. She said three black men came into the store and proceeded to ask for money and then began beating him for no reason as they knew where the cash register is." Motorcycle Rear-Ends Patrol Vehicle – Cumming Patch

A motorcyclist was sent to the hospital Wednesday night after slamming into the back of a Forsyth County Sheriff's patrol vehicle, authorities said.

David Emory Castleberry, 30, of Cumming, suffered a facial broken bone along with cuts and bruises, according to Lt. Col Richard J. Doyle, director of Operations for the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office. .

 

Doctor Indicted on Child Molestation Charges — Sandy Springs Patch

A Fulton County Grand Jury has indicted a Sandy Springs doctor on charges that he molested a juvenile female during a sleepover at his residence.

Doctor Kelly Thrasher was indicted this week on child molestation, it was reported on Wednesday. The Fulton County Grand Jury added the charges of sexual battery and aggravated sexual battery to the indictment. Thrasher was arrested on Jan. 24 after his release from the Ridgeview Medical Center where he entered himself after detectives initiated a criminal investigation into the molestation complaint. Police ID Cyclist Killed on Bells Ferry

The bicyclist who was struck and killed by a vehicle this Wednesday along Bells Ferry Road has been identified as 42-year-old Timothy Austin of Woodstock.

Around 4 p.m. Wednesday, Austin was riding southbound on the sidewalk of Bells Ferry Road when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the bicycle and entered oncoming traffic, said Officer Mike Bowman, the spokesman for the Cobb County Police Department.  - Canton-Sixes Patch

The Cherokee Sheriff's Office is investigating what caused a silver Dodge Charger to roll off a boat ramp and crash into Lake Allatoona late Monday afternoon.

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services responded to a call just before 4:45 p.m. Monday regarding a car that had gone into the lake off Kellogg Creek Road in southwest Cherokee County. .

Alcohol and "common drugs of abuse" were not factors in a November 2012 vehicle collision in Suwanee that claimed two lives and injured another person, according to the Gwinnett medical examiner.
