Hunting Accident Kills Man; Murder Charged in Toddler's Death

A 44-year-old father dies and his son is injured after falling approximately 15 to 20 from a tree stand while hunting in a remote area in south Forsyth County on Monday evening.

Emergency crews responded around 5:18 p.m. to a wooded remote area along Old Atlanta Road following a call placed by the son, according to Division Chief Jason Shivers of the Forsyth County Fire Department. See Cumming Patch for more on this story.

Man Charged With Murder in Toddler's Death - East Atlanta Patch

The man watching his fiancée's little boy on Saturday while she ran some errands has been charged with the child's death.

Devon Sawyer, 23, is charged with murder and child cruelty, DeKalb County Police Department spokeswoman Mekka S. Parish, told East Atlanta Patch. He turned himself in to authorities Monday night around 11 p.m.

"Based on the medical examiner's findings, the child's death was ruled a homicide," Parish said. "The exact nature of the injuries is not being released at this time." See East Atlanta Patch for more on this story.

76-year-old Man Murdered During Home Invasion in Athens - Athens Patch

Awakened before midnight Monday by the sounds of someone kicking in the front door, Edward Davidson, 76, went to investigate and was shot and killed, according to an Athens Clarke County Police report.

His wife, Charlotte Davidson, wasn't injured, the report says. See Athens Patch for more on this story.

Reports are coming in regarding Tucker High School students who have allegedly been burglarizing houses when they should have been in class.

Sources say at least six boys skipped class on several occasions in recent weeks and broke into nearby houses, stealing multiple items and then stashing them in Cofer Park.

One of the boys confessed to his parents, and they then turned him into local police. The boy provided investigators with the names of his accomplices, according to a neighborhood resident. See Tucker Patch for more on this story.

Missing Gwinnett Woman Found - Lawrenceville Patch

A missing Gwinnett woman has been found and reunited with her family. 

On Tuesday, at about 5:45pm, Gwinnett County Police issued a release stating Stacy Parker had been found earlier. Parker is reported to be in good health and with family members. See Lawrenceville Patch for more on this story.
