Alpharetta, Milton Runners To Show Solidarity With Boston

At 6:30 p.m. Monday, runners will gather at the Big Peach Running Company for a three-mile run to show solidarity for the victims of the Boston Marathon explosions.

The April 15 explosions at the Boston Marathon still reverberate through the running community in Alpharetta and other cities.

At 6:30 p.m. Monday, runners will gather at the Big Peach Running Co. store on Windward Pakrway for a Solidarity Run for Boston. A similar run was held last Tuesday morning.

On Monday, runners are urged to wear Boston or Boston Marathon clothing, which includes shirts for that city's sports teams, or a favorite race shirt.

The Big Peach website says:

We will gather together for a brief moment of reflection, and then run/walk the first mile in silence. We will then continue on and complete a 3 mile route before returning to our store. After the first mile, we should talk with each other...share race stories and continue the healing process by enjoying each other's comapny as we run together.

A BPRC team member will lead the way, and we will have another bring up the rear.  No runner/walker will be left behind. (It is also perfectly fine to head out for 1/2 mile and turn back if not up for 3 miles.)

A suggested donation will be posted at the store.
