Hallow Eyes

Your hollow eyes pierce my soul, penetrating to the core of my conscience. They cut through the shallow veneer of the "religiosity" that futilely attempts to hide my hypocrisy. I am shredded. I am undone.

I want to turn away as the reflection of my well-fed belly in your jaundice stained eyes reminds me that I possess plenty, while poverty possess you. Curse you, poverty! Curse you, hunger! Curse you, starvation! The strength of your stare is consuming me. Look away! Look to another!

No, look again at me. Stare at me again with those hallow eyes, and in so doing, cause me to look at myself.
