A Master Suite Retreat

The remodeled master suite becomes an oasis of calm from a hectic lifestyle.
The master bedroom has long served as a place to relax after a long and stressful day. Today’s master has evolved into something much more.  It is now designed to tailor fit the needs, lifestyle and tastes of the homeowner.  We all want to come home to a place that feels serene; a place to restore, recharge and relax. A “suite” radiating calm and comfort, just like one at the most luxurious hotels.

According to Remodeling Magazine's Cost vs. Value Report, a master bedroom suite remodel should net approximately a 63.2% percent return on home owner’s money if they should decide to sell.

The Design / Build – Look at the Entire Space.
The only thing certain in life is change!  Change is the common theme among those remodeling homes.  Many homes were built during an era when practically every room in the house was planned with different needs in mind. This often led to limited square footage and little to no closet space. The master bedroom was proportioned, to create long rectangular bedrooms that ultimately have inefficient storage for a growing family.
Today’s remodels look at the entire space. In many cases the remodel includes tearing down walls to increase available space. Many projects include expanding the bedroom into a former smaller room, changing the layout to include a hallway and large walk-in closets, adding storage, a spa like bath and sitting areas. The results are more elegant, airy and romantic; yet relaxing and functional master suites.

The new master bedroom is a room that generates calm, balance and color flow; bringing peace to any home.  By keeping color schemes simple you will achieve the desired balance. With plenty of space in the rest of the home for the whole family, the master suite is a secluded refuge. The Master Bedroom sitting area can serve as an oasis for many couples. Built-ins are used to compliment the sleeping space, many times a wall of shelves and cabinets, and a window seat across the room, complete the room. There are other places in the house for the family to gather, the master suite is off limits!

It’s All in The Details.
Along with the master bedroom, the bathroom has taken an atmosphere of personal indulgence. Newly renovated bathrooms mix crisp, polished pieces, with natural textures and cool colors, evoking spa-like feelings and transforming formerly dark and unused space into a light and relaxing refuge. Clients are encouraged to create customized retreats. Giant tubs, once widely popular, are moving over for soaking tubs. And, people are focusing on custom showers that include overhead, wall-mounted, hand-held showerheads, rain bars, body sprays and steam units.

When it comes to extras in a master bathroom remodel, many clients are looking towards the luxurious. Many add extravagant chandeliers in their bathrooms and bench seating in the shower with multiple shower heads that turn any shower into a room of its own. Built-in towel warmers or fireplaces are installed for ambience and warmth. One might also consider increasing the master bathroom's convenience by housing a washer and dryer, adjacent to the dressing rooms. The ideas are limitless.
And, let’s not forget the sound, television and computer systems especially the in-mirror models which are becoming most popular, where the television is visible only when it is on, as options.

The Dressing Area is a Well Organized Space.
Every master suite should also contain the largest closet in the house. One that keeps everything organized, properly displayed and allows every item to be easily located.  These closets increase hanging space and have plenty of drawers and shelving. In some cases the closet can even become a display area for those most cherished items.
