“We’re not just a store; there are plenty of retail outlets that just sell apparel and gear,” says co-owner Lee Karp. “As our name implies, we want everyone in the community to see us as the place that welcomes them ‘home’ like family and provides the encouragement, information and personalized attention they need to be their best and live life to the fullest.”

Endurance Devotees Envision Growth Throughout Region

This is the first of three stores earmarked for the Greater Atlanta area by the Karps. It is also the culmination of a longstanding passion both Steve and Lee Karp possess for participating in endurance sports themselves. Lee, who is a graduate of Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif., with a concentration in music and general education, is a seasoned Iron-level triathlete, having participated in both IRONMAN Florida and IRONMAN Augusta in 2013, as well as multiple sprint and Olympic-distance races. She spent nearly two decades with GUESS?, Inc., most recently as a retail recruiting manager, and will now serve as president and co-owner of Endurance House Atlanta. Steve graduated from California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, Calif., with a bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, and is currently a project director at McCarthy Building Companies, overseeing multimillion-dollar commercial construction projects. In recent years he has become very active in endurance competition, and has completed several sprint and Olympic distance races, four half marathons, both Ironman 70.3 Augusta and Ironman Florida and others in 2014. He is preparing for his next Iron-distance event, Ironman Chattanooga 2015.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing Endurance House to the Atlanta area,” says Lee. “As active triathletes ourselves, Steve and I are part of a large and growing endurance sport community here, and are situated in the heart of a thriving region for endurance events. This year kicked off with the Life Time Fitness Indoor Triathlon right here in Alpharetta and continues with multiple events each month, not only triathlons but a multitude of duathlons, runs, walks, swims, cycling races and other events throughout the year as well.  We look forward to helping more people enroll in and enjoy all of them, and to growing as these sports continue to grow throughout the region.”

A weekend-long Grand Opening celebration for the new store kicks off Friday with a 10:30 a.m. ribbon cutting by Alpharetta Mayor David Belle Isle, and continues through Sunday, with representatives on hand from Orbea bikes, Orca swim gear, Nuun and Fuel Belt hydration products, Garneau cycling apparel, Sidi cycling footwear, Fuji bikes, Kestrel bikes and other companies, free sessions offered by stretch therapist Teresa Meason and by representatives of Infinit Nutrition Solutions and Trigger Point, bike fitting and bike maintenance sessions and hourly giveaways such as a TRI bike, a set of ZIPP wheels, a Louis Garneau Comp Tri Kit, socks, fuel belts, running shoes, water bottles, sunglasses, helmets and other merchandise totaling more than $6,000 overall. Endurance House co-founder Jamie Osborn also will be on-site throughout the weekend discussing his company’s philosophy and how the Personalized Movement Profile can help each runner or walker identify the best shoe for their specific needs.
