Amana Academy Hiring School Nutrition Staff

Named 2011 Georgia Charter School of the Year by the Coca-Cola Foundation, Amana Academy is a well-established K-8 public charter school in its 9th year serving 750+ students in Alpharetta, Georgia - a northern suburb of metro Atlanta.  Amana Academy is part of the Fulton County Schools system, and is accredited by SACS-CASI.   

Amana Academy utilizes the project-based Expeditionary Learning instructional framework aligned to the Georgia Performance Standards.  Our intent is to “push down the 4 walls of the school” by taking students out into the community to BE authors, scientists, researchers, mathematicians, and world citizens. Our established partners—local, state, and national—benefit our Crew of students, parents, teachers, and community.

Amana’s mission, focusing on high academic achievement through project-based learning expeditions, strong communication skills, world language learning—we teach Arabic, one of the 6 official languages of the United Nations, to all students grades K-8—community service, citizenship, environmental awareness, and character-building, is a school that attracts especially dedicated and talented professionals.

Amana is hiring extraordinary individuals to participate in a unique educational program.  Amana’s school culture encourages all community members to become crew, not passengers, in a climate of mutual respect, collegiality, collaboration, and professionalism. 

Working in a team environment, the School Nutrition Staff member prepares, cooks, serves and stores food in accordance with accepted institutional procedures and Health Department Requirements and adheres to all meal accountability procedures including cashiering.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·         Prepares, cooks and serves food in accordance with accepted institutional and HACCP procedures

·         Follows daily production schedules, including preparing recipes as written

·         Cleans all utensils and equipment used, disposes of garbage and mops assigned floor areas

·         Utilizes left-over food as directed by the manager and stores all food items properly

·         Utilizes and maintains equipment as trained

·         Follows approved instructions for chemical use in the operation of the program

·         Adheres to Federal, State and Local policies, procedures and regulations

·         Adheres to Amana Academy work rules and School Nutrition Staff and Uniform standards

·         Demonstrates ability to improve job-related skills and takes pride in serving students

·         Attends 12 hours of in-service training yearly and attends all training as scheduled through the School Nutrition department

·         Completes a 30-hour state required Orientation for Nutrition Employee course within the first year of employment

Additional Responsibilities

·         Communicates effectively and promotes good public relations with students, teachers and administrators

·         Works with peers/supervisors in tactful, considerate and cooperative manner and assists others when needed

·         Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator
