Verizon Wireless Reopens Location as Innovation Store

The wireless company gets on the interactive customer service bandwagon, opening up its retail store with plenty of demo devices.

Verizon Wireless opened a pilot store in Alpharetta, intended to be an interactive experience for its propsective and existing customers to visit to demo devices and services.

"It is our Innovation store, the first of its kind in the country," said Katie Jay, Verizon Wireless spokesperson.

Verizon Wireless has a big presence in the Alpharetta-Milton area, including offices on Deerfield Parkway and North Point Parkway. The area was among the first in Georgia to get 4G service.

"We've got over 80 working demo devices out on the floor for customers to come in and test out and experience," said Jay during the renovation celebration on Oct. 28. "Really that interactive experience is the key."

At the nearly 4,000 square foot retail store on North Point Parkway,Verizon Wireless has installed:

  • A Demo Zone featuring six oversized high-definition plasma screens offering the flexibility to showcase the latest wireless technology, videos and wireless workshops.
  • A state-of-the-art Experience Fixture that act as hybrid showcase for the latest devices, featuring  hands-on touch screens connected to the latest 4G wireless devices.
  • More than 80 working handsets, air cards and other devices for customers to handle and test, many displayed on four themed, channel-set tables.
  • Tablet check-in that enables customers to electronically keep their place in line while browsing the store.
  • Fully stocked and expanded accessory zone that offers a wide-assortment of products to enhance the experience on all types of wireless devices.
  • 12-foot Droid display showcasing the latest Android devices and accessories.
  • Interactive Tablet Wall that displays a wide selection of 3G and 4G LTE tablets.

Jay said the company's coverage is increasing. As of Oct. 20, Verizon Wireless covers 186 million Americans coast to coast with 4G coverage. The company beat its promise of 185 million by more than two months.

She said 96 percent of Georgia, and 97 percent of the nation, has 3G coverage.

"Our 4G coverage will mirror our 3G coverage by the end of 2013," she said.
