Railroad Revival Tour Cancels Duluth Concert Stop

Ticket holders supposed to be given full refunds by tour promoter. Southeastern Railway Museum offering free admission to museum to ticket holders on Oct. 20, the day the concert had been scheduled in Duluth.

A day-long Railroad Revival Tour concert scheduled Saturday, Oct. 20, in Duluth and headlined by Willie Nelson has been cancelled by the promoters, the Southeastern Railway Museum announced Friday (Oct. 5).

The Duluth museum was to be the first stop on the second annual Oct. 20-28 tour from Duluth to Oakland, CA, with performers traveling in sixteen 1940s railcars and entertaining at open-air concert venues in parks, fields and lots around railroad tracks in seven cities. The entire tour has been cancelled by the Texas-based promoter.

Also scheduled to perform were Band of Horses, Jamey Johnson, and John Reilly & Friends.

“We have been moving forward, getting the museum ready for the concert,” said Southeastern Railway Museum Administrator Randy Pirkle in the press release announcing the cancellation. “We’ve fielded lots of inquiries from members of the public who were interested in attending the concert, and many of our own volunteers were looking forward to it. We hope our friends at Railroad Revival Tour are able to regroup and restart the tour next year. We’d be happy to talk to them about hosting a concert next year, once they’ve resolved the current issues.”

Tour promoters have indicated that ticket holders will receive a full refund with all refunds to be processed by Oct. 21, 2012.

Also, the Southeastern Railway Museum is offering free admission to concert ticket holders on Oct. 20, the day the concert was to take place.

“We realize that folks are going to be disappointed, and want to reach out to them. Even though the museum was only a venue for the concert, we thought it might help to give ticket holders something to do,” Pirkle said. “Since they’d planned to be here that day, and the museum was to be a big part of the overall experience, we thought it would be a nice gesture to give them a chance to visit us.” The museum will accept a receipt as proof of purchase of tickets for the concert, he said.

Pirkle referred ticket holders interested in more information about the cancellation or refunds to check the Railroad Revival Tour website

This announcement appears on the tour website:

“It is with extreme regret that we announce the cancellation of the 2012 Railroad Revival Tour. The decision to do so was a difficult one, but it was determined that certain complications would not permit us to host the shows in the manner intended, and that the bands and fans deserved.

Railroad Revival Tour will be giving ticket holders a full refund. These will be processed by October 21, 2012. Please be patient while these refunds are processed and give them time to appear on your credit card statement.

We hope fans will take the opportunity to see these acts in other venues. Thank you.”
