Milton Resident Joins MARTA Board

Orkin appointed as Fulton County fills posts vacated by transportation legislation.

Milton resident Adam Orkin has been appointed to the MARTA Board of Directors as a Fulton County representative, the county announced via e-mail recently.

Orkin, the chief executive officer of Orkin  & Associates LLC, has been tasked with protecting Fulton taxpayers' investment in the transit agency, the release stated.

Barbara Babbitt Kaufman of Sandy Springs and Noni Ellison Southall of unincorporated south Fulton also were appointed to the MARTA board. The Board of Commissioners was required to make the appointments under House Bill 277, which ended all current board members' terms. The Transportation Investment Act of 2010 allows three Fulton County members, two of whom must live north of Atlanta and the other member must live south of the city, according to the release.
