Local Business Fights Aging with Strength

Wholebody Systems has locations in Milton and Roswell.

As the U.S. population struggles with the unavoidable affects of aging and the costs associated with it, local company, Wholebody Systems, LLC (WBS), hopes to do something to help on an affordable level.

A new non-pharmaceutical option provides a strength and conditioning program, which combines bioDensity technology and whole body vibration. The effect helps prevent and treat muscle and bone degeneration.

"After witnessing my father lose his fight with cancer because his body was too weak to fight it, I wanted to find a way to promote health through strength," said Alexander Simmons, founder of WBS. "I learned about bioDensity and how revolutionary it truly is and realized this was a good way to do it."

The program - originally designed for high performance athletes - increases functional strength and bone density, making it ideal for an aging senior population struggling against conditions like osteoporosis.

According to Simmons, WBS is a physician supervised program where individuals can prevent and reverse age-related conditions without the negative side effects.

"By using the latest in vibration technology, our members are able to get the multiple muscle contractions required to build strength in a short amount of time," he said. "This also effects and stimulates nerve growth and circulation. bioDensity gives them the ability to generate the maximum weight bearing load possible for their body. For the leg press, that may be 3,000 psi of pressure for an athlete, or it may be 300 psi of pressure for an elderly person."

Sessions last approximately 10-15 minutes. And while the vibrating portion of the program can be done 3-4 times a week, the bioDensity machine produces such an intense stimulation that it takes 6-7 days for the muscles to repair and regenerate, so it is only done once a week. But the combination of program treatments allow muscles and bones to come back denser and stronger, said Simmons.

He said the program improves muscle strength, bone density, posture, balance, circulation, organ function and nervous system response.

Those improvements are measurably noticeable in Simmons clients, he said. One such client, a 85-year-old who has poor circulation in her feet and difficulty walking more than a short distance, arrived at her first session walking with a cane and left the building walking without it. She didn't even realize she had left it until she got to the car. Another 58-year-old client, who is an avid gardener, reported that after three months of therapy she she can dig holes, carry bushes and load top soil in her garden all day long without feeling sore or tired like she used to.

Simmons, 30, has been using the system since December 2011 and said he can run faster and jump higher than he could as an athlete in high school.

"I am more agile on the tennis court and more dominant - or so I like to think - on the basketball court," he said.

The seemingly incredible effects are all part of the preventative health care that Simmons like to preach on.

"Don't until it is too late to start taking care of yourself, treat your body right now," he said. "It is really more than a strength and conditioning program, it's a lifestyle."
