Diamond Pet Foods recently expanded a voluntary recall to include batches of nine brands of dry pet food formulas manufactured between Dec. 9, 2011 and April 7, 2012 due to potential Salmonella contamination.
A local reader asked about the recall, so Patch is providing this information from the U.S. Food & Drug Adminstration (FDA). You can sign up for recall alerts from the FDA online, or subscribe to an RSS feed.
In April 2012, Diamond Pet Foods initiated three voluntary recalls of Diamond manufactured dry dog food. Although none of the additional products being recalled have tested positive for Salmonella, the company is pulling them from store shelves as a precaution.
The company stated: “We have taken corrective actions at our Gaston, S.C., facility and voluntarily expanded the recall out of concern for our customers and their pets.”

- Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul
- Country Value
- Diamond
- Diamond Naturals
- Premium Edge

http://www.petmd.com/dog/conditions/digestive/c_dg_salmonellosis Unlike B. Turner's young and strong dog, my dog was an old lady and she died just a few weeks ago, after eating Kirkland Signature Super Premium. We received a recall phone message from Costco on May 4, and just today we received a letter in the mail from Diamond acknowledging the item that we bought and the approximate date of purchase. All they are offering is a refund on the bag of dog food. That won't bring my dog back. @ B. Turner. Your vet did a good job for your pointer. I'm happy for you. Be sure to have the results of her fecal reported to the federal govt. Google "Safety Reporting Portal" for the website of the dept. of Health and Human Services. Abby
Diamond has never disappointed us, in 10 years of using this formula ( as well as raising, training, showing and breeding dogs and puppies ) we have had 1 quickly resolved issue. That had nothing to do with food content. On another note....to anyone removing the food from its original bag, and storing it in another container, please check to make sure that container is ''food safe''. Dogs are adversely affected by far less chemical exposure than humans. Kathy Saunders, Mermysta Boxers and So Special Cockers in Clatskanie Orgeon.
