The RN won a DAISY Award for exceeding expectations of the hospital and patients.

A patient appreciated the work of Denise Miller, RN, at North Fulton Hospital so much that she was nominated – and won – the DAISY Award for Nursing for September.

Nominations were submitted by her patients and peers, according to the news release from the hospital..

Miller, a nurse in the women’s services unit, has been a member of the North Fulton Hospital nursing staff for 10 years.

“Denise is the definition of a patient advocate,” said Linda Farrow, Director of Women’s Health Services at North Fulton Hospital. “She is energetic, and always ready to help our patients, no matter what they need.”

One of the patients who nominated her agreed with that sentiment.

“Denise is awesome” said the patient. “She tended to our every need and made us feel so special.  By the end of our stay, she really did feel like a family member, and we will always treasure the experience. She went above and beyond the call of duty in providing high quality care to me throughout my hospitalization.”

Miller earned her nursing degree at the Lutheran School of Nursing on the Jefferson campus of St. Alexius Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, and she worked with Saint Joseph’s Hospital in St. Louis for 25 years before joining the staff at North Fulton Hospital.

Each month since October 2010, North Fulton Hospital has honored outstanding nurses who consistently and without fail go above and beyond what is expected of them.
