Beat The Heat With Kid Friendly Deals

Alpharetta and Milton businesses offer several kid friendly activities that are cheap or free to do.

The weather says that it will be in the 90s this week and thunderstorms will be present. If ever there was a great week to find activities to do with the kids indoors, this is the week. Here are several places families can go to have fun this week without spending a fortune. 

Head out to the movies. On Monday, Studio Movie Grill will be playing Madagascar 2 at 11 a.m. Adults are $2 and kids are $1.  Slip over the border into Cumming on Tuesday or Thursday to the Movies 400 theater. They will be playing Diary of A Wimpy Kid at 10a.m. Admission is free and popcorn and drinks are $1. If moviegoers bring a canned good or a school supply, the popcorn is free. is showing Diary Of A Wimpy Kid on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Everyone pays $1 to see the movie. 

Kids love crafts. The Alpharetta library is a great place to go for this and kids can participate for free. At the Ocee Branch Library at  5090 Abbotts Bridge Road, kids can make a craft as part of an international celebration of One World, Many Stories. This is on Monday at 2 p.m. and kids 5 to 12 years old will enjoy it. On Tuesday and Thursday, is featuring a free craft where girls can decorate a card of their favorite American girl book and hang it up at the store. This is at 4 p.m. and is perfect for girls over the age of 8. On Wednesday, head back to the Ocee Branch Library and make a beachy craft out of seashells. This is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and kids over the age of 8 are invited.

Storytimes are always fun for the little ones. offers a free storytime on Tuesday at 10 a.m. The Northeast-Spruill Oaks Branch Library, 9560 Spruill Road, is having an inflatable zoo activity on Tuesday from 10:30 to 11:15. Kids aged 4 to 7 will love this interactive safari and magic show which is free. The Ocee Library does a storytime on Tuesday at 10:30 that is free and best for kids under the age of 6.

For the active kids who want to run and play, Alpharetta has solutions for this as well. There is a kids play area on the bottom floor of the where young children can run, climb and slide for free. Superior Play Systems at 1355 Stonefield Court offers a free open play on Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Kids can play on the jungle gyms, shoot hoops and run in the giant indoorwarehouse. is always another indoor play option for the kids. While this will cost parents more than all of the free activities, coupons for free tokens and discounts can be obtained by signing up for Chuck E Cheese emails at their website.
