Alpharetta and Milton Kroger customers and associates across metro Atlanta donated more than $65,200 during a one-week fundraiser benefitting the Aflac Childhood Cancer Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

As part of the new “Kicking Childhood Cancer” program – and in recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month – Kroger partnered with University of Georgia Head Football Coach Mark Richt, Georgia Tech Head Football Coach Paul Johnson and IMG College to help raise funds for pediatric cancer research.

Last week, Kroger customers made donations and showed support for their favorite teams by purchasing $1 UGA or Georgia Tech football icons at checkout.

“Each year childhood cancer kills more children than any other disease,” says Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Kroger’s Atlanta Division. “We are incredibly grateful for our loyal customers and their support in helping make a difference in the lives of so many children.”

The Aflac Cancer Center and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta were designated by Gov. Nathan Deal to help spearhead Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in Georgia.
