Alpharetta's North Park will host the World Series this year – the 2013 United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) Fast Pitch World Recreational/ All Star Series. The Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) announced that it won the bid for the event, which will be held in from July 16-21.
This will be the first World Series brought to Alpharetta through the Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau. The CVB works year round attending trade shows and developing and maintaining relationships to bring these types of events to the city. They were able to connect with USSSA Fast Pitch World Series organizers at the recent USSSA Trade Show to bring the event to Alpharetta. The event was previously held in Alabama.
As the teams and their families arrive to their Alpharetta hotel from all over the Southeast, the CVB said they will be welcomed with information on where to eat, shop and explore during their stay. With 300 attractions within a 50-mile radius, Alpharetta can provide everyone in the family with something to make their stay a memorable one.
“We are thrilled to win the bid for the USSSA Fast Pitch World Series and that our sales team helped it move to Alpharetta,” said Janet Rodgers, president and CEO of the Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Our team has been working closely with the Alpharetta Youth Softball Association, Alpharetta Parks and Recreational Department and the Georgia State Director for USSSA Fast Pitch, Jerry Parham, to ensure this event is a success and we looking to a great week filled with competition.”
