Alpharetta Farmers Market Opens Season Saturday in New Location

City Center construction has forced the weekly event to move to Old Canton Street in downtown Alpharetta, right beside this weekend's Alpharetta Arts Streetfest.

Saturday marks the start of the season for the Alpharetta Farmers Market, which is in a new location in downtown Alpharetta.

The Farmers Market had to leave its site next door to City Hall because of  the beginning of work for the City Center project. This year the vendors will be on Old Canton Street in downtown, next to the mini park on Milton Avenue.

The Farmers Market will be open for extended hours this week in conjunction with the Alpharetta Arts Streetfest being held on Main Street this weekend. The Farmers Market will be open from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

The Alpharetta Business Association's Carol Anderson-Wood, who serves as the Farmers Market manager, reports that her vendors are excited about the new location and are ready for opening day.

At the Downtown Alpharetta Farmers' Market you will find farmers with fruits, vegetables and natural meats, gardeners with fresh flowers and herbs, and makers of all sorts of edible home goods from yummy desserts and breads to local raw honey and homemade sauces, jellies, soaps, according to its website.

Sixty-three vendors have signed up to participate in this year's Farmers Market. Although during special events such as this weekend's Arts Streetfest the Farmers Market will operate under extended hours, the normal schedule for the event is on Saturdays from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
