Alpharetta Business Shredding Documents, Hard Drives for Free

Insurance agency finds a hands on way to protect against identity theft.

An Alpharetta insurance agency is working on another type of insurance for local residents and businesses, but this time it's bit more hands on. will shred hard drives and files, both paper and electronic, to safeguard against identity theft.

Ed Gillman said that according to the U.S. Department of Justice Statistics, identity theft is now surpassing drug trafficking as the number one crime in the nation.

Costs associated with a data breach can be expensive from a business standpoint, including legal and forensic services, good faith advertising, credit monitoring and reputation repair. Many establishments would suffer irreparable financial losses without liability insurance, Gillman's normal method of helping clients deal with identity theft.

"A data breach costs businesses upwards of $200 per violated record. With this realization and increasing amounts of data being stored online, cyber liability coverage is becoming especially popular among commercial clients," he said.

But with this more hands-on approach, Gillman Insurance Group is teaming with Reaping Nature to offer free document shredding and electronics recycling, including hard-drive shredding services. Your documents and files-electronic or paper, will be disposed of properly and recycled.

Early drop offs were being accepted starting Monday, and will continue during the week from 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

There is a limit of two boxes for shredding. Most electronics will be accepted free of charge, but visit the agency's website for details. A $15 charge applies to TVs.
