Rain Dampens Alpharetta Arts Streetfest on Sunday

Big crowds on Saturday helped balance out the festival, but customers even came out during the rain, exhibitors said.

The Alpharetta Arts Streetfest had some of the best and worst weather this weekend, with a sunny sky and highs in the 70s on Saturday, but clouds, rain and a slightly cooler day on Sunday.

Special Events Manager Kim Dodson said the artists and the visitors to the Arts Streetfest enjoyed themselves.

The festival had 97 individual artists in exhibit tents that lined Milton Avenue from South Main Street to the intersection with Roswell and Canton streets.  Four rows of tents – with a few forgoing tents altogether – meant the artwork mostly stayed dry. But those artists who packed up an hour early on Sunday afternoon can be forgiven with the light crowd and rain.

Even on a cloudy Sunday afternoon quite a few visitors to the Arts Streetfest became customers, buying and taking home painting, sculpture, jewelry and other works of art.
