Get Out: Things to Do This Weekend

Why Go?: Back by very popular demand, the 2011 production of Smoke on the Mountain is presented by the North Georgia Acting Company, based out of Jasper, Georgia.

Highlights of the day include: inflatable’s, sports mascots, face painting, live entertainment, corporate/sponsor booths, and special family fun day pricing for bowling, laser tag, games and food items!

Why Go?: Help stock the shelves of North Fulton Community Charities.  Bring your donations to First Citizens Bank parking lot on Friday. Top six most immediate needs: Cereal, Pasta Sauce (no pasta), Macaroni & Cheese, Ramen Noodles, Canned Fruit, Canned Beans (no green beans)

Why Go?: The first show, timed to coincide with Father’s Day on June 19, will feature Lisa Port, lead singer of Atlanta/Ketchum, Idaho band Four Stroke Bus, and friends performing a mix of originals and covers spanning Americana, blues, bluegrass and rock-and-roll.

Why Go? Join Angels Among Us Pet Rescue’s The Big Hair Ball Event at The Country Club of the South. Cocktail hour and silent auction start at 6:00 followed by
dinner and dancing to all of your favorite 80’s tunes at 7:00! 80’s Attire Ball and Black Tie Optional.

Angels Among Us Pet Rescue is a non-profit animal Rescue group that is dedicated to saving dogs and cats from high kill animal control shelters and abusive situations through the Southeast.

Why Go?: What better way to enjoy a summer evening with family and friends than Johns Creek's 2nd annual "Music in the Park," June 18, featuring live music, picnic food, and kids games – all for FREE in Newtown Park! The event features the Johns Creek Symphony (the only all-professional symphony orchestra in metro Atlanta, other than the Atlanta Symphony) playing a diverse program of Broadway and Americana music from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Why Go?: This official qualifier for the 2012 Peachtree Road Race with scenic views along the Chattahoochee River in Roswell is a fast paced benefit race to support the Chattahoochee Nature Center. Post Race festivities and awards presentations take place in the Ben Brady Lakeside Pavilion with free admission to the Chattahoochee Nature Center included.

Price: Register early for a discounted rate, or on site for $32 for the 10K and $15 for the One Mile Fun Run.
