Singing Competition Raises Money for Alpharetta Nonprofit

The 39th annual Lawrence Awards will benefit Alpharetta-based Act Together Ministries.

An Alpharetta-based ministry will be the charity of choice in the 39th annual Lawrence Awards charity benefit.

The fundraiser will be held 6 p.m. Sunday Oct. 13 at Naylor Hall in Roswell. The event will raise money for Act Together Ministries

Tickets to the event are $15, and entry into the singing competition is an additional $10. The doors at the Hall will open at 5 p.m.

The event will follow an American Idol format, and singers will "compete" for studio time.

Act Together serves less fortunate children and families in the northern metro Atlanta area.

The Lawrence Awards are the brainchild of Atlanta-area pianist Larry Williams. The awards serves the purpose of publicizing singers and providing a better Christmas holiday for less fortunate children.
