Severe Storms Pummel Alpharetta, Milton

Hail, heavy downpours and gusting wind make driving dangerous and bring down trees.

A severe thunderstorm rolled through Alpharetta and Milton, pummeling the area with a downpour so heavy some drivers were calling it a whiteout on GA 400. The storm was accompanied by hail and gusting winds.

At 5:30 p.m., Alpharetta's Public Safety spokesman, George Gordon, said the city was still experiencing severe thunderstorm weather.

"I can confirm an unknown number of trees have been blown down by wind," Gordon said via e-mail.
