North Fulton Rotary Holds Annual Prayer Breakfast in Alpharetta

The Rotary Club of North Fulton holds 10th Annual Prayer Breakfast this week, Thursday, May 5.

The Rotary Club of North Fulton will hold its 10th Annual North Atlanta Interfaith Prayer Breakfast at Alpharetta's on Thursday, May 5.

The breakfast is one of several events locally which celebrate the National Day of Prayer, which is also May 5.

"It is an enriching experience as we hear from members of different faiths and public figures who share their faith with us," club president-elect, Bo Wagner, said of the event. "I personally walk out each year with a happy heart and ready to face the day."

This year's theme, "A Mighty Fortress is Our God," made the breakfast's keynote speaker, Ret. Col. Michael D. Steele, the perfect choice.

Steele, a vocal Christian, is known for taking part in the Somalia mission that was later made into a movie called, "Black Hawk Down." He is also a former offensive lineman, who played football at the University of Georgia under legendary Coach Vince Dooley, according to his Web site's biography.

According to Wagner, despite Steele's personal faith as a Christian, the interfaith breakfast will welcome local individuals from all faiths. He said the club expects Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism and Hinduism faiths to be a part of the event.

The community is invited to attend the special breakfast. Doors open at 7 a.m. and the program begins at 7:30 a.m. Individual cost is $25 per person. The Metropolitan Club is located at 5895 Windward Parkway in Alpharetta.
