North Fulton Community Charities Needs Food

As the month of August comes to a close, North Fulton Community Charities are also seeing their supply of food dwindle.

The agency is in need of food and donations to help re-stock their shelves to feed less fortunate families. The charity is seeing over 100 families each day, and the shelves are bare of certain food items, NFCC said on Wednesday in a press release. 

"Food requests in (the) summer always increase when children are home from school and food goes out the door faster than it comes in," it added. 

Items NFCC needs include canned meats, non-creamed soup, peanut butter and jelly, dry beans, canned vegetables — not corn or green beans — and tomato products. 

NFCC has seen a generous summer when it comes to donations, however. In July North Point Community Church doanted over 15 tons of food while Lexis Nexis collected over 5 tons. The Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce also collected another two tons and Siemens employees donated 1,800 boxes of cereal.  

Donations of fresh produce from the Chattahoochee Nature Center’s Unity Garden, backyard gardeners and local community gardens have also been helpful in the organization's efforts to feed hungry families.
