Milton Scout Adds Features to Bethwell Community Center

The Eagle Scout candidate installed a picnic area, grill and community posting board at the site.

If you enjoy the new picnic area, grill and community posting board at the Bethwell Community Center, be sure to send thanks to Eagle Scout candidate Nick Malinowski.

Malinowski, a 17-year-old senior at Milton High School and member of Birmingham United Methodist’s Boy Scout Troop 3000, installed the amenities as part of his Eagle Project, a requirement for the highest honor in scouting, according to a story posted on the city of Milton website.

“I went with Bethwell because I’ve seen that a lot of people use it, and that more people are coming to it every day,” said Malinowski. “I felt it could use more features so people could enjoy the outside, as well as the inside.”

Malinowski began collecting funds and supplies for the project in October, and just finished up the last of the building and installation in mid-December with the help of friends, family and fellow scouts.

“I’d just like to thank the Milton Parks and Recreation Department for letting me complete the project,” he said.
