Great Escape: Attend A Church Service

Attending church can be relaxing and a quite enjoyable break from the kids.

Each week, Patch finds a way for moms, and sometimes dads, to get a break. With all of the responsibilities of being a mom today, it can get overwhelming and exhausting. With this in mind, it is often even more work to try to come up with an idea to get that break. So, Patch took away the struggle and offers a new suggestion of a kid free getaway every Wednesday. Sometimes they are weekend trips, sometimes they are stay at home ideas and most often they are quick and short get aways for a few hours. The only rule is that no kids are allowed.

This week, why not try attending a church service? If you regularly go, this will make sense to you. If you do not, you may be surprised. After many many years of not attending church, I was pleasantly surprised when I went. The kids were whisked away to go and have some fun and I was left to sit and relax and listen. For an entire hour, there was no screaming or fighting. There was no television and no video game noise. Nobody asked me to do anything for them. I just sat and listened.

Sitting in the sanctuary, one can totally relax and sit back and enjoy the message. Attendees can listen to music and with the choices of churches today, this can be anything from traditional gospil to rock. Guests can learn more about their own faith or even attend a service with beliefs totally different from your own and learn about other people's faiths. Either way, it is a peaceful and calming experience without guilt. In fact, you may even walk away feeling better about the future than you did walking in.

Parents who do not like to leave kids with sitters do not have to worry at church. The adults who care for the groups of kids usually have had background checks and are proven to be safe. The kids will be learning about the religion and having fun playing and doing activities. They will be at the same place as the adults, just in a different room. Taking the kids to church to leave you for an hour could be good for them as well.

Whatever you decide to do this week to take a break for you, be sure you actually do it. Everyone needs to take that time for themselves and you just may find that you are a better parent for it.
