Get Out And Fish, Find Plants or Camp With the Family

This weekend before the spring break ends families can still find plenty to do.

Where/When: Van Pugh Park North (Lake Lanier), Great Water Dr, Flowery Branch, GA 30542, Saturday April 30, 7 a.m.

Why: Is your child interested in fishing? Get Kids Fishing (GKF) Foundation will introduce kids (5 to 15 years old) to Lake Lanier striper fishing and teach them how to protect waterways. GKF is in the process of partnering with the Gwinnett, Forsyth and Hall County Sheriff’s Departments to recruit officers and kids. The departments are asked to bring 20 kids and 20 officers from each office to participate in this fun day event. Contact Get Kids Fishing today to enroll your child.

Why: This is a great way to wrap up spring break naturally. Join a CNC naturalist as we sleep out under the stars at CNC. Head out on night hikes, play games in the meadow, visit with nocturnal animals up close, warm up by the campfire and roast marshmallows.

Why: : It's a Parent/Child cooking class! Learn to make:  Fizzy Raspberry Lemonade; Italian Pasta Salad; Cheese Stuffed Bacon Burgers with Smoky Maple Grilled Corn and Cole Slaw; Balsamic Berry Parfaits.

When: Saturday, April 9, 10 a.m.

Price: $60 per parent/child

Where/When: , 11925 Wills Rd, Alpharetta, GA 30009 (Alpharetta Community Garden), Saturday April 9, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Why: You are invited to a Plant Swap and a "Basics of Gardening" class at the Alpharetta Community Garden. The Plant Swap runs from 9-1. Bring plants from home to trade for other plants. The "Basics of Gardening" class, with Gail Zorn, of Gwinnett Technical College, will be from 10-11 a.m. Bring a chair and come enjoy the Garden.
