The warning states that at 10 a.m., the creek was at 6.7 feet and holding steady. However, NWS predicts "minor flooding" is in the forecast and the creek is expected to rise slightly above its flood stage of 7 feet.
The creek is expected to rise to near 7.1 feet by this evening, and should fall below 7 feet tonight.
Areas affected by the minor flooding include the fields and woodlands along the creek between Cumming, Alpharetta and parts of Roswell.
NWS predicts the flooding will impact portions of Big Creek Greenway near Alpharetta, and some parts of the greenway could get as much as one foot of water, "especially upstream and downstream from the gate on Kimball Bridge Road and near Rock Hill Park."
"Portions of the YMCA Campground off Preston Ridge Road will begin to flood," the statement says.
