Everyone Is Invited To Second Annual Community Kickoff

The cities of Alparetta and Milton have partnered with Milton High's Touchdown Club to bring a night of family fun to the area.

The Milton High School Touchdown Club are joining with the cities of Milton and Alpharetta for the second annual Community Kickoff. Join in on the festivities Sunday, July 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the school’s football stadium.

‘Every football team has a photo day,” explains Jason Wright, Milton’s Communications Director. “Some get some food and stuff for the kids, some don’t. Milton held theirs for years as just a photo day. Then last year, the Kickoff Club decided it wanted to do something special for the kids and decided to involve the community as well. This is now the second year Milton, Alpharetta and Milton Touchdown Club have collaborated on the event. The players still get their photos – but now when it’s done, there are rides, games, music and food. Plus, all their friends and family can be there.”

Melody Cookson is the Community Partners Chair of the Milton Touchdown Club and says that, aside from the Community Kickoff, it will be a busy “Meet the Eagles” weekend.

“It is the weekend that features the last major fundraisers for the year for the Milton Touchdown Club and celebrates the upcoming football season,” says Cookson.

On July 30 there will be both a silent and live auction at The Manor Golf Club with a golf tournament on August 1 at the same location. Both are intended to help support the football booster club and football team.

Cookson says that The Community Kickoff is The Touchdown Club’s way of giving back to the community

“At 8 p.m., we will have a brief pep rally to kick off the school year and the upcoming football season featuring the inaugural year of new Head Coach Howie DeCristofaro.”

Organizers say it’s important to know that everyone is invited, regardless of affiliation with the team. There are nearly 400 families in Milton’s high school and feeder programs. Combine that with the 900 families involved in the Alpharetta Youth Football Association that have been invited and there should be quite a crowd.

“We hope the event gets the Milton and Alpharetta communities excited about their high school and the sport of football, and to appreciate the quality of students produced by our local coaches, faculty and administrators,” concludes Cookson.

School begins August 15 for Fulton County making this the perfect end-of-summer event for students.
