Dogs Test Agility at Alpharetta's Wills Park

Atlanta Obedience Club hosts a three-day agility trial.

People were running and jumping inside the Wills Park Equestrian Center's covered arena this weekend-and so were their dogs. The Atlanta Obedience Club held an agility trial in Alpharetta, bringing dog owners from several hours away to put their dogs to the challenge.

Madison LeRoy might have come the farthest to compete. The Bristol, WI 10-year-old was visiting her grandmother in Roswell during her spring break from school in Wisconsin.

Madison was new to agility trials, but her dog for the event, Shalom, was an old hand. The 11 1/2-year-old dog now trains handlers, according to his owner, Sandy Bird of Lucky Dog Agility of Winterville. The dog trainer said handling a dog "takes a lot of effort to do it and it takes concentration and perseverance."
