Crabapple Gives The Gift Of Warmth

Community clothes drive benefits children at the Drake House.

Visitors driving into the downtown Crabapple business district lately may have seen the posted yard signs, "A Gift of Warmth." Those strategically located signs were not advertising a holiday sale, but instead showing them where to drop off donations for the Crabapple Community Association's clothes drive to benefit the Drake House of Roswell.

The Crabapple Community Association, a non-profit civic organization consisting of local residents and businesses whose mission is to promote culture and community in downtown historic Crabapple, organized the benefit.

Participants were asked to decorate a tree located in one of six Crabapple shops with a child's winter hat, scarf, gloves and mittens. The clothes were then presented to representatives from the Drake House at a dedication ceremony on Dec. 17 at .  According to its website, the Drake House's mission is "to provide short term crisis housing, assessment, support, and empowerment to homeless mothers and their children in the North Fulton area."
